Just had a weekend of marlin motoring, left home at 5:30 pm Friday for a two hour blast across the A66 and up the M6 to Dumfries. Spectated on the Scottish rally. then to Dalbeatie for the night. Saturday saw a 30 mile run to Moffat via the Dumfries tesco for the days fuel (car and Driver) once at the Moffat show field we registered and waited for the start of the road run. This is the best part of the event. four hundred classic cars lined up for a forty mile road run around some brilliant country roads. the run starts in groups of sixty setting off from the middle of the town with the crowds cheering and waving us off. Lunch is of the picnic variety by st Micheals loch. Really an excuse to park up and chat to some of the other entrants. We then continue with the road run back to Moffat. Another gathering at the show field and a look round the auto jumble. Sunday is the drive back from the digs to the show ground for the formal show. 900+ classics of all shapes and sizes. The organisation is good, the people friendly and the show first class. I even met up with another Roadster at the show and spoke to a some people who had built marlins in the past. If anyone wants a relaxed quality show keep it in mind for next year.
