  • Coil Over Shockers.

    Hi,

Can some one help me please, I need to replace one of my shockers marked AVO G4 974, I realise I may have to replace both.
The AVO number is not available according to Europaspares.com.
Has anyone else had this problem and could someone advise me please.

    Kind regards
    Mike.

Mine came from Dampertech - 01709 703992. They will probably be to order rather than off the shelf ,at least that's my experience .About £150 a pair and that just the shocks, you have to fit your existing springs. Where in the UK are you?

          Hi dogoncrazy,

One of my Coil overs is showing black marks at the top of the rod so I think it will have to be replaced, but it might mean purchasing a pair for safety reasons.
          I live in Kidwelly Carmarthenshire.

          Kind regards
          Mike.

Hi Mickaleen, have you contacted AVO to see if they can rebuild these for you, we used to have our units built by AVO and they would use different control valves inside to allow for the lighter weight vehicles. I know they used to rebuild probably worth a try. Regards Steve Himsworth ex YKC.

              Hi Mike,
I had to change my front shocks earlier this year. I to have AVO shocks. I contacted AVO UK (01604 708101) Caswell Rd. Brackmills Industrial Estate.NORTHAMPTON. NN4 7PW.
I purchased a pair of Aluminium bodied shocks. The AVO stock code was:- APF130/090. Described as :-ALLOY 2.25 SINGLE ADJ POLY BUSH. The cost was £288 delivered 09/06/2014.
The open length is 13 inches, closed 10.5 inches, eye centre to eye centre.
I had previously purchased a new pair of springs, these were AVO stock code:- E9250. Described as:- 2.25 COIL SPRING.
These were 9 inches in height 2.25 ID and rated at 250lb. The cost was £67.68 delivered.
The service I received from AVO was excellent. The staff friendly and very knowledgeable. Delivery very quick.
If doing the work yourself, use good spring compressors, it can be very dangerous removing the springs from the shock bodies. TAKE GREAT CARE.
I have a Rover V8 in my short bodied Cabrio, and the AVO shocks, set at 4 clicks, with the 250lb springs are a great combination.
              I hope this helps.

              Kind Regards
              Mike Woodley

                Hi Mike
I echo Mike Woodley's AVO bit
They sorted out JRR's rear change to coilovers

                    Hi,

Thank you Mike.Woodley for your advice, sorry for the delay in acknowledging.
Strange how Euopaspares came to their conclusion of not available.
                    Again thanks to all.
                    Kind regards
                    Mike.
