I saw that. O Series engine. Was that any good? Must have been 'better' than a the A or B Series I would have thought. So probably Ital based?- 9th owner of T693 SSC possibly a factory built Ford based V8 Sportster

From the 1.7 Ital the basic running gear, front suspension/steering, transmission, gearbox and rear axle are all the same as the 1.8 Marina only some very minor negligible changes were made, away from the bodywork and trim etc.
The OHC engine for the time was indeed better than the B Series.Comment

The O Series were also prototyped into the MGB as a replacement for the B Series. The Perkin Prima diesel (used in LDV CityVan, Maestro & Montego) is based on the O Series petrol.Comment

I remember replacing a thermostat in one of those engines for some one many years ago. Iirc it was a funny looking thing. Wasnt the housing like a long tube bolted to the head? Im intrigued so will do some googling. is there a shortage of housings? Are they prone to failure?Comment
