  • Roadsters with hinged lift up bonnets

Noting a comment from Andyf on JJs build thread, I wonder how many Roadsters had lift up bonnets ?

...answers and pics here or to me please, it would be good to record the various ways of doing it.

Here's some to start, unfortunately I don't know the reg of either of these cars (do you?).

The green one is Triumph based with a 6 cylinder engine

The silvery/greenish(?) one looks a similar colour to my YTB 432 and appears to have a side opening bonnet ? ? ? ?

Of course, the Romero Julietta etc all have hinged bonnets. They use the (early) sierra latch and catch to lock and bespoke hinges (home made in my case). The screen clamp, bonnet and nose cone are all different to the roadster so not interchangeable.

I remember back in 2010 Greg Pearson from Dorset had a 6 cylinder Triumph based Mk1 which when he bought it the bonnet was rear hinged and had blown up and bent a lot. Look up "New Roof not fitted" and "A1 Bonnet Mk1 roadster". Reg No Q 686 PWS. He brought it on the Exmoor Run 2010-11. Later it was sold to France. David.

Well spotted, David, that's the green one.

Here's one of Greg's pics from when he first had the car.

Can't help you with that, it's one of the (very) many we have still to further identify and/or track down.

All we have is a series of pics, no idea of chassis number, builder, current owner, where it is now, etc etc

Last on UK tax 2007 with an export marker. The number plate on the car in the background looks foreign. Possibly German.
