  • Fibreglass Spare Wheel holder - what fitment?

    Hi to all

I am fitting the spare wheel holder on the boot, the Fibreglass type.

    1) how many bolts did you use to bolt it to the rear clamshell, want to spread the weight but no overly.
    2) I was going to use the proper wheel bolts but that would leave the wheel sitting high, how have others done this.?

A picture of the wheel off would be good.

    Can anyone help?

    Adrian

That's interesting Adrian, was that a factory option? I have only ever seen the metal ones.

          Hi Cameron

I am only surmising but I think they were finding the metal ones over engineered and costly so they came up with these.

          Or

These were the first ones and they found them inadequate so they made the metal ones, LOL.

Anyway it definitely is a factory made one, but as you can see in the picture of the back, the cross is where I would be drilling and you can only just get a bolt head in there, so you wouldn't spread the load?

The other worry thing is that if I did put a bolt in the base where it would tighten down it is curved.

          If you get my meaning?

Surely once tightened it would crack the fibreglass.?

Hopefully someone else has one like this and come to my recue.

Don't really want to make a new one.
