    I have got to the point now where I am connecting up the engine to the electrics and fuel supply and the use of a swirl pot is causing me to think hard.

    I am a bit concerned about using the Marlin supplied swirl pot (really a surge tank) as

    1. It is mounted on the bulkhead with the battery one side and the fuse box the other. I not sure that the SVA people will be to keen on this mixture of fuel and electrics.

    2. It means using two fuel pumps and lots of extra connections in the fuel system - all more to go wrong.

    I am now thinking about modifying my fuel tank to add a baffle instead. OK so its gonna cost (more) money but I am beginning to think it might be the better solution. What do you all think? Come on lets have some good discussion on this!!

    Drill a 12mm hole in middle bottom of fuel tank.Make a cone 160/200mm diam and 75mm deep with two pipe outlets. Weld the cone to the underside of the tank with the hole in the middle of the cone. There is ample room as the diff is 75/100mm lower.

          Hi Robin,

          Just to add to your good discussion, I have just passed the SVA with my sportster and all is OK with the Marlin swirl pot design.

          1.No comments from inspectors at Birmingham test centre on its position next to the battery box.

          2. No loss of fuel suction on corners, fuel pressure OK at full power.

          3. Electrics, just put another relay in the circuit.
