    Nice way to shut down a thread. Ignore the subject; then make it personal, that's what the PM system is for.

      So,
      Is there a process by which a club member can request/ officially suggest/ progress an idea, rather than let differences of opinion and apathy (and antipathy) close it all down?

        Tim, I have PM you. As no-one else has replied, I offer the following :

        There is no official process, however the common sense suggestion is that for any idea/suggestion which is put up and sensibly discussed, and which then becomes something that a number of members

        feel the Club should instigate, it would be incumbent on the committee to get involved, maybe poll the whole membership, and then decide whether to go ahead with the suggestion.

        The committee is, after all, elected by members to run the Club.

        Alternatively, there is always the AGM at Stoneleigh in May, at which you can put something on the agenda (I don't know if you will be back in UK by then ?)
