Re: My New Car
Well we seemed to be in the right place at the right time
Having read all I can about Marlins and having advice from Danny and some of the committee I decided to try and find a Marlin Hunter which should fit my ample bulk . Looking back through the forum and seeing all the links to E Bay etc I mailed all the recent adverts to see what may still be available one of the replies was from a man who resides in Spain but had his car near Southampton at his UK home .
He advised me he already had an offer from a chap in France but the sale was progressing rather slowly and as he intended moving out of his UK home a quick sale might be secured
As I was to visit Southampton on Saturday taking daughter to the University, it seemed pertinent to take some cash and to see if my Mike Brewer Ed China wheeler dealer skills from an earlier life still worked .
The Car was previously advertised around 11k a lot of money but when you think it was sold 19 years ago for 25k (about 40k by todays standards) getting the car for a few grand less than 11k it could be an amazing buy so cash in hand I negotiated, and negotiated, and negotiated, determined not to go home empty handed eventually buying the car at my target price and what a car it is !
One owner 7000 miles only genuine history only used in dry weather and from new built to owners specifications with white connolly leather expensive stereo full history with very limited annual use average 190 miles each year in the last ten years
Always maintained by same classic specialist garage since new stored in a dry heated garage
I went through the car with a fine tooth comb only faults i could clearly see were paint on black bumper starting to flake (Never Primed from New) loose screw in door panel and very slight surface rust on tie bars otherwise its like a new car and it fits just like a straight jacket talk about be one with your car.
Now having purchased the car I was faced with a drive of over 200 miles home in an unknown little used vehicle with my wife following in my new draught free 435 BMW coupe I set off and was quickly reassured I had bought a nice car the car never missed a beat ran warm and was fairly draught free cruising at 65/70 mph and smiling all the way home
cant wait for shows n runs social events next year
Its a Dura-torque twin cam 2.3 powered car about 145 BHP factory Built

Re: My New Car
Thankyou for your interest in my car We avoided being blown away by the wind yesterday
Ophelia took its toll of our area with trees down and massive waves leaving rocks debris on the roads, closing some roads further along the coast
