  • Engine Analyiser

Anyone have one that works properly on an BMW engine E30 pre 2000 ? seems it's not guaranteed looking at some devices.

Hi Steve . You need something that is capable of reading OBD 1 fault codes. I bought one and it keeps coming up with "unable to communicate".

      Re: Engine Analyiser

Hi Steve . Further to my last post. Had A quick shufty on U-tube and if you car has an engine check light, it's possible to read faults on early Bmw's by turning the ignition on and stabbing the throttle five times. This gets the check light to flash intermittently in sequence. If there is a fault it will keep repeating the sequence, if more than one fault there will be one sequence repeated after the other. Hope that makes some sort of sense.

The only code reader for your engine is from http://www.peakeresearch.com/

          Gentlemen

Thanks for the feedback. I picked up on OBD1 but it seems that pre 2000 there are no guarantees that the analyser will work. Mine field.
Will take a view of the peake unit.
