How much does a Roadster weigh?

I took my roadster for its MOT Today. (Saturday-finished the rewire Friday night). It passed except the tester needed to know the weight of the car for the brake test. We had to make up a figure eventually. So just for the record like, how much does a typical roadster weigh. (1.8 B series TC marina box and running gear) Thanks.

Hi again Don, The original brochure say's "Typical Weights 1.3 and 4cyl Triumph 660kg
1,8 and 6cyl Triumph 715kg. I would at least that much.

Hi Don, Our Roadster with a 2l Fiat engine and g/box weighed 740kg. on the weighbridge at the china clay docks at Par here in Cornwall. That's complete with spare wheel, tools etc.

If you take it to Evans scrap metal in wiggington, they have a weigh bridge there, or there is one at the council dump on the London road Amersham.

I still dont know why the MOT man wanted the weight. My garage just put it on the rollers and pressed the brakes. One question though ....why do all the lights work at home , but manage to blow bulb in 4 miles to the test.

The MOT Tester needs the weight to work out the efficency of the braking system as a percentage of the overall weight, for a Marlin, the service brake has to be 50%, and the handbrake 16%.

I tried weighing my Triumph TR6 engined Roadster with a set of bathroom scales to see what figure I got (jacked up rear, lowered one side onto block and other onto scales and block, repeating at front) and got a weight of approx 730kg split 53/47 front/rear.
