  • Triumph Rear hub puller

    Hi there currently undertaking full body off restoration of my Roadster (GT6 running gear) and looking for a local Hub Puller to borrow or buy?! Any ideas, Cheers.

    ...Based in Bath

    I used a 2 legged on JRR but it was bent getting it off.
    Boy was it tight I should have used the gas axe on it!! Ideally you need a 4 leg puller but I don't know if there is such a beast
    Anyway it cost me a new hub, from Rimmer Bros.

      There is but, boy, are they expensive. The pullers that is.

          What about this... on eBay. Seems like a good design bolting to the hub rather than trying to 'hook it' so to speak.

            Thats a good price considering it has a hydraulic ram and multi fitting options

            this heavy generic Triumph tool is OK but has no hydraulic advantage
            so needs an extra shredded wheat in the morning.

            The alternative would be to remove the assemble and get a local garage to press it off.

              Ben has it right. I have a friendly mechanic with a 20 ton press, for a box of teabags and an hours chat, hubs and bearings magically fall off, and more importantly the new bearings get refitted.

              Its a bargain compared to the cost of a puller.

                That's all really helpful - the reason I'm doing it is that I need to change the worn/torn old rotoflex donuts... any wisdom or advice greatly appreciated! )

                  Worth checking the Triumph specialists to see if they do cv joint upgraded drive shafts. The money for a puller would go towards the cost of them! :-) Peter.

                      Isn’t there somewhere the story of how the factory did this using off the shelf parts, maybe cheaper if those part are still available.

                        As much as I like Triumphs I have always managed to avoid the Mk2 rotoflex cars Certainly need to read up on the shimming of the hub on rebuilding.

                        there is a way of building a hybrid CV drive shaft using some Volvo parts but not familiar with whats involved.
