Re: Engine problems - help!
Today I fitted a new fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel hose to the car.
After checking the flow from the fuel tank was good, I put a container under the end of the hose which fits onto the carburetor and cranked the engine. Clean fuel pumped out.
I Fitted the hose to the carb. and poured the fuel from the container into the engine. Fired it up and all was good.
I have just been for a short run and everything seems to be as it should be.
I gave the old pump a shake and tipped the contents into a container. Red sludge, which might explain the issue I was having (photo attached)
The filter which was fitted between the pump and the carb showed no sign of contamination though.
Thanks all for the advice given. Hopefully, all is now sorted.
