Kop Hill Climb Festival 2019 - 21-22nd September - 10th Anniversary

It’s the tenth year we’ve been running the revival of the early 1900’s hill climb so a big effort to make this one the best.

As usual hundreds of cars and bikes running the un timed hill (a public road), with a Clubs and individual classic car and bike display area. A cherished vehicles area for non qualifying classics.

Lots of fun for the family with kids area, food court, live music and trade stands.

We’ve set aside a pitch in the Clubs area for the MOC for any that want to come along. The SHEBB group are putting a few in, all others welcome. We do need to start getting some bookings on the pitch soon so I can plan the allocations to each club in the limited space available.

Criteria is pre-‘79 so it’s the Early Roadsters on their original donors reg plate that are the obvious ones. We do accept newer cars as long as there aren’t too many, generally need to be 25 years old at least still.

Would be great to see owners from other regions.

I would love to come along but my Marlin is an 85 on a Q, also what is the situation with camping or more to the point a small caravan.

An ‘85 is OK as it’s more than 25 years old, we can squeeze a few newer cars onto the pitch.

We don’t have on site camping because we’re using a school field for the event but we know people come and use sites in the area so best to jump on Google and look for something in the area.

Bumping this as we need a few more cars on the pitch if we are to keep it, otherwise we'll have to park up together in the general display area?

Would have thought, if it is a club stand, that all marlin vehicles would be welcome regardless of age.

Hi Steve,

The cut off for the event is 1979 this year, we roll with the UK car tax year, so it'll be 1980 next year.

That's because it's a predominantly pre-war event, being revival of the original hill climb. We open for pre-war first then post war to fill it up the remaining spaces.

For static display it's still 1979, but for club pitches we waive that and accept 25 years old at least, as various car clubs around the world use 25 years as a rule of thumb, as long as most of the cars on the pitch are still up to '79. But the rule is 'bendy' so to speak.

The date we use is date of manufacture, not date of first registration. So if your donor car would have qualified then you are OK, use that date when applying for a space, not the car registration date.

As a final catch all, if a vehicle falls outside of the above it can still park in the cherished vehicles area at the front of the public car park, adjacent the hill climb. You can see that area on the left of the middle photo above.

It's complicated I know, I had to write the booking system to handle all the rules!

Well we have five cars on Saturday and three on Sunday so far, with another two local trials Roadsters just about to book in for the weekend if their owners can get the tree as they are both in need of TLC at the moment!

So that'll be 7 Saturday and 4 Sunday so I'm pleased with that, thanks all for making the effort.
