Brake pipe installation.

I have just ordered new brake pipe, fittings and flaring kit.
Reading up in the roadster build manual the Marina based roadster uses single and double flares however reading up online recommends double flare on all connections and not use single flares.
Will double flare work where original is single flare?
Next question, I assume they are SAE and not DIN flares.

The pipe flare must match the fitting that it is being connected to. A single flared pipe will be used with a fitting that has a countersunk face at the bottom of the threads. A double flare needs a fitting with a raised conical face at the bottom of the threads. My Hunter has single flare pipes. I have double flared pipes for the rear brake cylinders on my classic. Using the wrong flare in either case will result in incomplete contact and leaks when the pipe nut is tightened.

Sometimes people get confused with the meaning of single and double pipe flares. Easiest way is to remember the process required to form the flare. A single flare is produced with the first operation of the flaring tool and produces an olive shaped end to the pipe. A double flare is produced with the second operation where the flaring tool presses the olive inside itself to produce a trumpet shaped end to the pipe. Peter.

Luckily I know which flare is which and will just follow the build manual.
