    Spring has come

Left for a short drive around and spotted this...
With my Berli in the background I hope it is not off topic.

Saw this on a UK television program “Countryfile” on Sunday. Apparently Female Toads, making their way back to water to breed, quite often carry a Male ‘hitch-hiker’. The males being smaller, like to hitch a ride on the females!

It’s not quite what you think (or at least, not what I was thinking)!

Similar event here by Chateaulin Finistere, they passed by my old house en route the brest / Nantes Canal at the end of my garden, then in summer all the progeny passed in the other direction!

And I thought it was a confused cockney amphibian breeder who has been trying to cross the frog and toad!

I think you will find that is how they procreate.

If I remember rightly there was a Frog and Nightgown pub on the Old Kent Road ...Passed by it one night as an 18 yr old, out for the night after servicing antenae at RAF Northolt.

                Probably long gone now!
