  • Leaking heater in Marlin R

My just-bought Marlin has a wee problem in that the heater drips dirty water(??) on the passenger side. I am not really bothered about having a heater anyway, is it possible / smart to just remove the unit entirely ? If I do go for a fix is it just a case of running the engine, finding the source of the water and then changing hose / clips / seals where required?

Cheers guys, thanks for your patience with a newb!

Hmmm, the great drip debate! My Berli drips water both sides and in the winter I have a chamois on my shins to collect the drips! Most owners have perma-stains on their trouser legs where this problem occurs. I have never found the source of my drips so if you find that removing the heater unit fixes the problem, please let me know! Not that I intend to remove my heater as it is the sole source of warmth in freezing weather that would otherwise render me incapable of driving. Good Luck in your quest Oh Newb!

      Hi Gavin,
You don't say which heater unit you have [Mini or maybe the old marina unit] If it's a mini unit it sounds like you have a leak from the matrix as the inlet/outlet pipes are on drivers side, in which case you'll need to remove unit from car then take the casing apart to remove the matrix[self tapping screws hold it all together] Getting a new matrix shouldn't be a problem from motor factors or radiator specialists
