    Exeter Trial 2022 Simms Hill

I missed going to Fingle this year to take Marlin photos, due to a dodgy knee. However this video of Simms cheered me up. Good to see the Marlins out in force doing what they are good at! Peter.

Brilliant! Please explain why some cars barrelled round the bottom corner and up the hill and others stopped at a yellow flag?. Then started up. Was it because the track wasn't clear? Great to see the Marlins and the Bucklers doing so well. The Reliant(?) was awesome. Good to see Mk1 Escorts being thrashed, not show queens!

It’s called a ‘Restart’. Applies to some competitors depending on which ‘class’ their vehicle is in. See link below for more information.

The Marshall at the top of the hill or special test (Simms Hill is one of several) signals to the Marshall at the start line that the hill is clear so only one vehicle is on the hill at any one time. Peter.

After seeing the video I will have try and get to one of these events in the Southwest. I recently found out that The lands end trial once came through the village where I live Week St Mary in the early 1960's. I have not been able to find any more information or pictures of the event.

The MCC 'Edinburgh' Trial (so named for historical reasons only) takes place in the Peak District every October (first Saturday) and is one of the other 'big 3' classic MCC trials along with the Exeter (January) and Lands End (Easter). I marshalled on the Edinburgh last October and have marshalled/spectated/competed many times since 1981...! I've always lived in the NW or midlands so that has always been my 'local' classic trial.

This year however I'm branching out and have entered the Lands End!
