In order to improve the ride on my present Cabrio I decided to calculate the existing front spring rate and deduced that they were in the region of 330 lbs/ins which was way over what I thought they should be.
Trawling through previous posts produced a figure of 250lbs /ins to be a better set up [GreyV8 Pete and others] so ordered a set at that rating. Same length, 9 free coils etc. Interestingly when I removed the originals I discovered that one of them was indeed still marked with the rating which was 350lbs/in, so my calculations were pretty close!
Took the Cabrio out this morning having set the ride height approx and have to say it's transformed the ride. Turn in is also much improved, probably due to fact that with the original springs it was inducing understeer.
Thanks to the aforementioned V8 pete and those others who had posted in the past for 'steering ' me in the right direction!
Just need to reset the ride height once it's settled after a few more miles.
