  • pinto engine head bolts

    hi folks,
i have seen this on the forum somewhere but can find it now
there are two types of pinto head bolts, the head of the bolt can be a splined or torx type, can anybody tell me which bolts need replacing after each use, is the splined or torx type,?
    thanks

    Re: pinto engine head bolts

The later torx bolts are what is known as a "stretch" bolt. These are the ones that need to be replaced.

The torx bolts are the ones that need to be turned another 90 degrees after getting to the tightening torque, and therefore stretch. Having stretched them they are not re-useable. Listed here: https://www.burtonpower.com/head-bol...h-ft1005a.html
