Marlin Rev Counter

My marlin cabrio has a rev counter fitted that was provided to the cars builder when he purchased the kit, so the marlin paperwork that comes with the car says , the rev counter also has the proper marlin emblem on the rev counter face so i do believe its the real thing.
so my question is can anybody help me with how it should be wired up, ?? the reason for asking is the revs drop to zero when i take my foot off the throttle and jump up to 3,000 rpm the second i touch the throttle, it clearly isnt doing those revs at all.. so i need to investigate but not sure where to start,,
any ideas ????

If you do in fact have the "standard" Marlin supplied 100mm diameter rev counter...it was made by Caerbont Instruments of Aberdare, South Wales.When rebuilding my dash board last year, I phoned them up and was instructed over the telephone. When I connected my dashboard just a few weeks ago, the only thinf that didn't work straightaway was the speedo-drive...which is mechanical anyway. Giv'em a ring!
