Peter the rear quarterlight is fitted with 40mm by 3mm glazing strip. The channel is back to back with the channel for the wind down glass, also along the top of the door. I hope that makes sense.

I think I understand? I see that it will sit in the bottom channel and into the channel against the wind up glass, but what holds it in? The 3rd side (curved) has nothing?

That is correct The glazing strip holds it on the bottom and the side The curved side has nothing. The glazing strip is folded into a U shape and around the glass and into the channel. This is pushed home and is a tight fit.
