Hi Can anyone tell me the crankshaft pully nut size on the 1275 marina ital engine, not easy to get to measure, thanks.

Believe I've used a 3/4 Whitworth socket on that one as it was all I'd got . Equates to 33mm or 1 5/16 AF

If you put the car in 4th gear and push the car, you won't need to turn the nut on the crankshaft

Thanks Ye Ol Ripper i am half mile down the road and not set a tappet yet, That is a joke by the way? Am told Halfords do a socket at £10.35p, have to have a look in my money box?

My recomended method is preferable to using a socket, which i do have in my toolkit. As it
Its much quicker & to turn the crank you will probably be continuously going under the car and then getting up to them adjust the valve clearances. Its not easy seeing when a valve is fully open to then adjust the corresponding closed valve whilst turning that socket. With my method using 4th gear you can though.

Maybe obvious but remove the plugs first when turning the engine over by hand for checks!
