  • Triumph Engine Mountings

In traffic I noticed an occasional and slight shudder when releasing the clutch, investigations led me to the 40 year old engine mountings and on closer inspection one of them was beginning to fail (see pic).

Fitted the new mountings yesterday (supplied by James Paddock), they are rock hard in comparison to the old ones suggesting they are strong but do they still have insulation properties?

Does anybody have any experience of these mountings?

I have new mounts but from Rimmer yes they are solid too but the engine sits and runs fine with them. They have only been in a year but are already starting to crack so maybe this toughness is not a good thing. I will be interested to see how your Paddock ones go as I can see mine needing to be changed in way less than 40 years .....

Thanks for sharing that, I suspect these will have come from the same manufacturer, I'll keep a check on their condition and let you know if I experience the same...

A lot of "new" classic car parts are awful. They look like the real thing but that's about it! I try to look for new old stock nowadays but, as stuff doesn't come up often, you have to be on the look out all the time.
If you are a serious DIYer, and who wouldn't be with a Marlin , there are kits arround to cast your own rubber parts. (Lol).

It would seem to be the case Martin

When you consider how many components are shared between the Triumph models and the number that there are around the world you'd think it would be a viable market for a quality manufacturer. I would have ordered the Polybush mountings from Rimmer Bros but they are out of stock. Maybe it's too much of a cost driven market now?

I'll see how these mountings get on before I order the rubber casting kit
