  • Back on the road

Today I spent £345 on road tax for our Berlinetta, Gwynevere before our first trip out since September.
It was a lovely sunny day although still cold and it was great to be out in an open top car again. We did a 41 mile circular route, collecting an oil filter and cambelt kit from motor factors in Matlock and continuing to Sheldon for lunch.
Has anyone else been out today?

Yep, went to the regular monthly Classics Car Meeting at Haddenham. Some 107 cars of all types and years. Raised £121 for Heartbeat Haddenham who buy and maintain the Defibrillators in the village, not bad considering we don't charge for the event. Had to scrape the ice off the windscreen inside and out and got brain freeze on the way their.

Just an enjoyable hour in the sunshine through the local lanes. Second run of 2025. It was therapeutic..

Nice, I took a trip around the local roads in the Sportster on Saturday, very cold but sunny!

Sketch as in the shady damp bits so promptly ordered new tyres and wheels as I'm going up a size to 16 where I can get good rubber. Should get those in a couple weeks.

Took the Cabrio out for a pre MoT test run which is in a couple of days time. All seems ok. Road tax due at the end of the month (£345 which is more than I spend on fuel some years!) Oh well!!

It seems weird when insurance is less than the tax! Even on my daily the insurance is now less than the tax.

A short run in the countryside ( 11 miles) on Thursday morning in cool but sunny weather for Gwynevere's MOT. I still go back to the garage near where I used to live for MOT on my Marlin. I have been going there for the last 32 years.
