Wanted: Front Offside caliper bracket

I am looking at different ideas for rear disc brakes on a Marina axle.

What I would like to play with is a front offside caliper bracket, a nearside will do but I prefer an off side. If you have not got one by itself, perhaps you will have one bolted to a front suspension leg.

I wish I could help...but I'm looking for a pair...! I'm thinking of following your Clio-path but I'm slightly reluctant to butcher the existing brackets (though I know a 3mm washer would restore the status quo). Sods law was the only uprights and hubs I've seen on flea-bay for ages were from a drum-braked 1.3...but I bought them anyway...and was pleasantly surprised to see someone had fitted longer 7/16 studs...!

Jez, go ahead and butcher yours.
The bit you are going to remove does not have any thread in it so it serves little more purpose than a washer anyway.
I tapped mine out to the larger M12 1.25 thread rather than create shoulder bolts. To revert back to Marina I would have to drill the Marina caliper holes from 7/16" to 12mm, again not a significant change.

Someone out there must have a spare bracket or two. They are the sort of thing that will sit on the shelf for ever or get thrown away as they have no other use.

Perhaps you missed my initial request.
If, as you say, you have several sets, could you not supply a pair to both Jez and myself, rather than just a single one that I originally requested?

If you convert the rear brakes to disc and hydraulic caliper what do you do for a handbrake?

When I first heard about rear hydraulic disc brakes I asked the same question.
In simple terms almost all rear calipers are fitted with a secondary mechanical piston inside the bore of the caliper. This is actuated by a lever pulled by the handbrake cable.
Do a search on eBay for a Sierra Rear Caliper and look at the pictures. You will see a torsion spring that retracts this secondary piston and lever.

Lee - no plans for rear discs yet. Just fitting a Sprint axle and fancy beefing up the front brakes to overcome any potential for rear lock-up issues...once that's done I might investigate a rear disc setup.

I now have the parts I need from colleagues on the Fastmarina forum.
The bracket has enabled me to refine my design though not appropriate for a Marina, ideal for a Sprint axle.

Jez, have you thought about using one of the ford valves to prevent rear lockup - they were fitted to lotus elans and all sorts of escorts too. Basically its a tube with a ball bearing in and as the weight transfers to the front the ball rolls forward into a shallow funnel reducing the pressure at the rear. I happen to have one sitting around if you want to try it? :-)
Have attached a picture of one from a mk5 escort on ebay (ford brake valve) which is a twin unit - you would only need one it the main rear line.
