Yeah I heard that about Brittle cables too but to date I have not had a problem with it but I have had crimped connectors come adrift,although this may have more to do with my choice of Crimping Tool!!

Not got very far on the cabrio today been playing with the Roadster for a change, only managed to rinse out the engine and heater, ow and moved the position of the Marlin badge as it was on the early roadsters (See picture) However do have a larger Marlin badge in the toolbox and may put that on.
How do you have your Marlin badge ??

It is interesting what other owners use.
I was advised by an auto electrician to avoid soldering joints as it makes the cable brittle?
So, I'm now crimping my terminals on, but just have a niggling doubt that there must be a better way?

What do you feel are proper connectors?
I'm currently tackling my complete wiring system, and using the cheap brass crimp connectors supplied in the Premier Wiring kit, and keep wondering if there is anything better?

I have recently done a fair amount of rewiring on my Cabrio using the spade lugs in the attached photos!
I am very pleased with the results and they give me a fair bit more confidence for the future
They do need soldering on though so quite a bit more time consuming!
I use a the Turbo lighter(see pic) for my heat source as it is much easier than a Soldering Iron in my view and very useful for heating Shrink Sleeve on soldered straight joints as well
Can't remember where I got them from probably Ebay!!

I found the brass spade connectors a bit bulky when joining loom sections together and the plastic covers a bit naff (I too used the pws loom). I went to vehicle wiring products and got loads of the motorcycle bullet connectors, very neat when installed. A bit more difficult to separate if you need to (maybe that's good!) but they have full protection from the covers and are easy to crimp with the PWS F tool. Obv there will be some terminals which have to have spades and I used the PWS ones for those.

A coat of paint can make a significant difference to the volume of air flowing through the fins - keep it thin Lee.......and not too shiney!

Hi Lee.
Go easy on the paint as it will reduce the heat transfer if not the right stuff. Frosts do a special radiator paint but I think it's also matt black, for the same reason. A quick blow over to change the colour is all the thickness that you need. Peter.

simple physics my boy - dull black radiates heat best
Is that a terminal mising on your fan switch Lee? and are those horrid crimp connectors?- get some proper ones!

SO your upto date lots done more to do

The radiator started leaking as the induction filter was rubbing against it, causing it to wear a tiny hole see previous post
The radiator got repaired today and is awaiting painting, did not want them to do it as want it painted shiny black not the dull paint the repairers use. Off wed so going to flush the engine through ready for rebuild

Well so far since getting the cabrio I have carried out he following improvements
New chrome door handles and lock covers
New windows to replace the unfinished ground edges
Fuel pump mounted on rubber to improve the noise
Chrome petrol cap replaced std sierra syle
Reposition seats to lift up for more support
Lift steering column as it was on my knee
Rear lights replaced for Lucus 681 round units
Bonnet props
Finish hood at the front and fix catches
Solid spare wheel cover bought off marlin and painted
Green pads front and back
Drilled discs front and back
Set up rear suspension toeing in '-8
Wheels and tires going up to 17" with 205/50/17 tires
Dome nuts of steering wheel
Cosworth badges
Master cylinder
Centre consul out of sierra
Cats removed with bypass pipes
New Idle speed control valve
Stainless centre hinge replaced painted one
Side lights range rover side repeaters in custom made housings
Track control arms adjustable
