  • Seat Belt Clips for LWB Hunter / Cabrio

I have always been irritated about the way the seat belts drop down behind the seats on my LWB Hunter once released. Once there they are impossible to reach easily when you are sitting in the car. This is especially annoying when the hood is up as it means scrabbling to get out, hook the belt over something and then get in again, always hoping that it doesn’t slip back behind the seat again!

I had for Plan A looked at fitting the guides that are available for the MGB as the seats / headrests are very similar to the sportsman recliners that Marlin fitted. However they seemed too high and would have fouled my windstop brackets.

After a futile attempt at Plan B which wasted two days (just don’t ask!) I revisited Plan A using the MGB guides and realised that they could be modified to suit. Ordered from MGB Hive they arrived 1st Class mail the following day and mods commenced as follows:

Seat belts are now held in position, even if the seats are tipped forward, and if required the belts can be slipped out of the guides using the slot provided. Result! Peter.

        Very interesting

BTW are your seats really the Corbeau Sportman Recliner? They don't look like it compared to the piccies of CSR's on Europa Specialist Spares. Only reason I ask is I have the same seats as yours in my Cabrio and they are so uncomfortable (the back support is all wrong and results in back ache even on short runs) that I am looking to change to something else/better.

Maybe not. Just a suggestion I heard from from somebody a while ago maybe? They are very similar to the ones that I saw in an MGB, possibly an RV8? Those were wider across the shoulder area but maybe the basis for the Marlin ones after possible mod?

I find mine very comfortable but opinions do differ. I think people have different preferences for the backrest angle which may make a difference? Also peoples backs are different too!

Yes, I can't believe everyone finds them uncomfortable. You're correct re the backrest, I find it bulges too far forward in the lumber region and hence I find this very uncomfortable especially as there is no adjustment available, perhaps its just my particular seat.

I have been looking at the Corbeau Sport Recliner as an alternative. I have looked at TVR Chimaera seats (as I currently also run one of those and find them really good for long distance touring but as ever its too wide..... shame), I'll have a look at the RV8, be an interesting path to follow.
