Some marina's (mine being one of them) didn't have the top location plate. See diagram below. The lowering blocks supplied have a 3° taper to replace the steel wedges

Yes that's right, what I didn't realise was that they are supposed.to sandwich the wedge as well.

Can you take a picture from the rear like my one so I can see the shock absorber mounting.

    Thanks

    Adrian

However - the Ford Escort Mk1 & Mk2 has U bolts with the same curvature as the Marina and Grayston continue to manufacture extended U bolts for them, the U bolts are 50mm longer than standard.

A point of information, the Ford U bolts are made of a slightly bigger diameter steel than the Marina ones, so you will need to drill out the Marina/Marlin spring plates to suit the Escort U bolts.

They can be purchased here https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/gray...steel-gryge25/

    I hope that this helps.

That was useful information thanks. The only Escort U-bolts I had found were uprated 5/8" which would have been a challenge to get to fit with the standard spring plates. I've ordered a pair as mine are very corroded.
