    Stripping alloy wheels

Hi, I'm looking for some recommendations for stripping the lacquer off the alloy wheels on the Roadster with a view to repainting them.
I've seen one called Rustoleum Aircraft remover on YouTube but doesn't seem available over here. Never had any luck with Nitromoors. Anyone tried something else. It's a lockdown job I just fancy having a go at.
    Cheers Gareth

Oh boy will you ever need patience to do that.

I gave up and had mine blasted, even then it took ages to get them prepped for spraying

To be honest I didn't even contemplate doing it my self but took a set of wheels to a specialist refurbisher. Cost an arm and two legs though.

There is a place in the midlands that charges £30 /wheel for strip refurb paint. would you like me to look for their details ?

I would as the cheapest round my area is £60 per wheel.

Cheers, but it would be a bit far. There's places around Chester that can do it if I give up doing myself. Thanks anyway!

Something else I'm doing is changing the old Mountney steering wheel to a 9 hole Astali wheel. Thought I'd just check I can get the old wheel off as the steering nut could be done up tight and a puller might be needed to free the boss off the splines and taper. Took off the horn button cap to reveal that the big nut was finger tight and no lock washer fitted and the wheel just lifted off once the nut removed! It's been like that since I got the car and passed numerous MOT's and never given a hint of being loose! Could have ended in tears...suggest you check yours!

Well, that's the wheels done, windscreen frame done and a new steering wheel as well. She scrubs up well!
