Gentlemen, can a member with a 2000cc Ford Pinto engine in a Triumph front suspension roadster SWB Mk2 advise me of a pundage rating for the front springs. At the moment mine are of an unknown rating and far to stiff. Thanks all

Re: Front Suspension Springs
If your car is on the road simply take it to a local weighbridge and speak nicely to the operator
You want the front and rear weights
Then calculate the appropriate spring rates
Much like spouting peak horsepower without talking about peak torque or better yet the torque curve, spring rates and damping are rather meaningless without taking your suspension frequency into account.
1 Hz (60 cycles per minute) - is ok for a luxury saloon
2 Hz - 120 cycles per minute is about as high as you want to go with a road car

Re: Front Suspension Springs
If its any help a hybrid with a Triumph 6 cyl engine rides quite nice on Mk1,2 or3 Spitfire standard springs not shortened
they are the softest available regular springs to fit a Triumph .Ben Caswell probably not the last word on anything here!!
